We are excited to establish a new All Ages/All Abilities Community Music Program at the Corps.
This program includes our Just Brass Program and will provide music programs to people of all ages and abilities within the Geelong community.
About the role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a values-driven and proactive Community Music Program Coordinator to develop and coordinate this new, All Ages/All Abilities Community Music Program.
Reporting to the Corps Officer this role will be instrumental in overseeing the delivery of the Just Brass Program in schools as well as developing a range of centre based and outreach music programs in the Geelong community catering for people of all ages and abilities.
The role also entails working with Corps Officers and Corps Music Leaders in ensuring that music for Sunday Services is appropriate and well-planned.
- Provide training and support to the Just Brass Coordinator and Tutors to ensure that the support and tuition offered to students in participating schools is of the highest standards and that volunteers in the Just Brass Program are well managed and aware of their roles and responsibilities
- Offer free music tuition to people interested in learning a brass or percussion instrument
- Develop and deliver a community music program for people of all abilities and all ages who are currently not able to participate in appropriately inclusive music and arts activities
- Support the development of a community outreach music program for people in Aged Care facilities in the Geelong area
- Develop and coordinate music ensembles for young people who have been involved in the Just Brass Program and other young people who participated in school music programs but have no opportunity to belong to a music group postsecondary school. This would include taking responsibility for further developing the Youth Band currently operating
- Work with the Territorial Creative Arts Team in starting a Limelight Community Choir based at the Geelong Corps.
You will have
- Formal music qualifications and experience in instrumental music teaching and program delivery
- Understanding of, and commitment to, the mission and values of The Salvation Army
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
- Willingness to undergo a national criminal history check and international criminal history check (if required)
