Weekend Disability Support Worker

Thank you for showing an interest in our advertisement. Our twins have Autism and cochlear implants as a result of their extremely premature births.

This position requires a half-day carer on Saturdays to work with one of our18-year old twins who have special needs.

Shifts are from 8-10am, or 8-1pm and from 4-8pm.


We need a carer who is interested in learning more about young adults with special needs and who will take a keen interest in providing a stimulating and caring environment for them for a few hours every Saturday.

The position will suit a carer or student who is interested in learning more about Autism, deafness and teaching people with special needs or who have an interest in medical conditions.

You will be one of two carers working with one of the twins.

We will provide you with all the training and support you need until you feel confident to work in the team.

Previous experience is not necessary.


The position requires you to help the young people with their morning or evening routine including helping preparing their meals, helping them with their showers and toileting and taking them for an outing during the morning or settling them in to their bedroom for the night.

There will also be the opportunity to work a few more hours to babysit when their parents attend a function that happens on average every 6 weeks.

We live a 7-minute walk to the Turramurra train station.


This opportunity will be most suitable for a student in the helping professions including psychology, physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, childcare or teaching.
