About the Opportunity

This newly created opportunity within our R&D team is globally focused, strategic in nature and involved in leading the product creation process from concept stage through to design and final sampling.

Working closely with the Designer and Founders, you will be collaborative in nature and will enjoy working with multiple stakeholders and parts of the production lifecycle.

You will regularly be analysing and researching sales insights, products and will have a strong project management capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess business needs to inform product development.
  • Creation of product briefs to align with business strategy and objectives.
  • Supervise all phases of R&D including yearly road mapping and workflows.
  • Lead, support and manage a growing team whilst ensuring workflow and operational demands are being met consistently.
  • Management of the R&D budget in collaboration with the Managing Director.
  • Plan and execute development projects according to critical timelines and preplanned dates.
  • Monitor and analyse sales to influence product life cycle decisions.
  • Accurate and timely product ordering, tracking of samples and scheduling of initial photoshoots.
  • Maintaining the R&D master database to include production dates, lead times, delays, pricing, composition and other relevant notes and information.
  • Collaborate with the Designer to review specs prior to handoff for potential construction, material & wear or cost concerns.
  • Liaise with offshore suppliers & travel to India to ensure the best possible standard is achieved by working closely with the Production team and the right suppliers per product, improving communication, learning their attributes and shortfalls, educating suppliers as to Armadillo design & quality standards, building supplier relations, as well as following up on design development and sample or rug approval.
  • Maintaining accurate and thorough product documentation inclusive of product photography, filing and archiving (digital/physical samples), and maintaining product lists for other departments.
  • Creating and implementing staff product training & new product release presentations.
  • Coordinate lab and home testing and accreditations in partnership with Production Manager.
  • Be the key liaison across all departments to ensure all matters related to the product are communicated effectively.
About You

  • Approximately 7 years of experience in apparel, têxtiles, furniture, product development, film, television or production industries. Ideally, you have a project management background and can therefore manage multiple touchpoints and drive action.
  • Exceptional eye for details with strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactively identifying and implementing process and cost efficiencies where possible.
  • Ability to travel internationally (India) or domestically several times per year. Ideally, you have experience managing relationships overseas and visiting key stakeholders and sights to ensure product development is progressing accurately.
  • Physical ability to lift rugs and rug samples in line with WH&S policies.
