Brickworks Building Products is a leading Australian building materials company with a strong commitment to environmental and sustainability stewardship and we are seeking an a motivated Environmental and Sustainability Advisor to join our team in Rochedale, Queensland.

Reporting to the General Manager Operations, you will be primarily responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing and quarry sites across the four business divisions remain compliant with all environmental licences, permits and approvals, including relevant environmental legislation and standards.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and implement environmental management systems and procedures.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, the broader public and employees regarding relevant environmental, work health & safety and other matters.
  • Provide technical support to key management personnel and operational staff to continually improve and maintain environmental systems.
  • Monitor and coordinate environmental projects to ensure they are within budget.
  • Identify ways to reduce environmental and energy costs.
  • Notify plants of any environmental corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all environmental reports are accurate and error free.
  • Provide up to date technical advice to appropriate managers.
  • Assist the plants in maintaining compliance with Environmental Licences, Acts and Regulations.
  • Conduct internal audits and assist with external audits when required.
  • Provide accurate feedback on environmental performance issues to all levels of management.
  • Contribute to the Brickworks Sustainability Strategy.
  • Support sustainability reporting, data collection, and environmental product claims.

Success Requirements
***- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Engineering or similar.

  • Previous experience dealing with key QLD regulatory departments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive and persistent when completing tasks.
  • High attention to detail with experience and ability to work in a highly numerate and analytical environment.
  • High proficiency in MS Excel and data management is essential, PowerBI experience favourable.
  • Flexible, adaptable, enjoys diversity of tasks.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Takes a logical and scientific approach.
  • Independent & selfmotivated.
