How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne
The Ageing and Inclusion Centre Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Managing the day to day operation of the Kensington Neighbourhood Centre, South Yarra Senior Citizens Centre and Jean McKendry Neighbourhood Centre to ensure they are accessible and safe spaces that respond to the needs and aspirations of older communities.
  • Providing leadership and support to the Centre Support Workers based at the three neighbourhood centres.
  • Managing OH&S and coordinating the facilities maintenance of the neighbourhood centres to ensure safe access for older people.
  • Developing good governance mechanisms and maintaining strong partnerships with community groups and organisations to ensure equitable access and maximum use of the neighbourhood centres.
  • Contributing to the resolution of potential complex issues arising from Centre users and external stakeholders.

In addition, the Ageing and Inclusion Centre Coordinator will require:

  • Tertiary qualification to a degree level in a professional discipline and/or substantial experience directly relating to services provided by the team.
  • Facilities management and OH&S experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in process and project management, including the areas of planning, priority setting, task allocation, resource allocation, financial management, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills enabling effective relationship building and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to effectively manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Extensive community development experience and understanding and skills in the deployment of community engagement techniques
  • Understanding of healthy ageing concepts and Age Friendly Frameworks.
  • Ability to work with community groups from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.
