Our Company:
Essjay Contracting Pty Ltd is a Civil Contracting business based in Rockhampton, QLD. We deliver a large fleet of heavy earth moving machinery, trucks and light plant to a range of projects in the private, commercial and government sectors. Our project commitments are located throughout Central & Western Queensland & the Bowen Basin.

The Role:
Due to recent growth, Essjay Contracting are looking for experienced Project Supervisors for Civil/Bulk Earthworks projects throughout Central Queensland.

This role will be site based and the successful candidate is expected to work on either a driven-in-drive-out or fly-in/fly-out (FIFO), 2&1 or 3&1 roster.

You will be working closely with the Senior Management Team and will be responsible for ensuring project activities are completed safely, within budget, and on schedule.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading from the front and driving our culture and vision to lead the industry through safety & efficiency;
  • Providing effective leadership and supervision through 'on the ground' presence, direction, guidance and feedback to teams and individuals;
  • Effectively managing resources including rostering and machinery maintenance schedules to ensure efficient production rates;
  • Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of contractual requirements;
  • Resolving problems and conflict arising within the crew;
  • Liaising with the client to ensure that their requirements are met;
  • Providing timely and accurate information to meet management and Client requirements;

The successful applicant will have:

  • 3+ years of experience in supervisory/management role within the mining and/or civil industry;
  • Demonstrated understanding of civil plant and equipment operations and maintenance;
  • Experience with and confident using Microsoft Office and maintenance related systems etc;
  • Effective planning ability, time management, and prioritisation;
  • Possess confident ability to organise and lead diverse teams effectively;
  • A proven communicator across the entire workforce, with the ability to effectively liaise with other employees, clients, suppliers and sub-contractors;
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude;
  • Be a self-starter with high levels of self-motivation and initiative.
  • Have proven strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as systems knowledge.
  • Desire to work in remote locations;
