THE ROLE

The Whyalla Recreation Centre is seeking passionate, driven, and inspiring community members to join our award-winning team of Pool Lifeguards. We have multiple roles available and offer exciting learning and development opportunities.

Pool Lifeguards take on much greater responsibility than simply supervising water space. As well as identifying potential risk factors and taking steps to reduce those risks, you will act as positive role models to build happier, healthier communities within the facilities that we manage.

Key duties include:

  • Provide active supervision of all aquatic patrons in your area of responsibility to ensure safety of all users
  • Maintain concentrated observation of pools and patrons to anticipate and respond to problems
  • Identify and quickly respond appropriately to any emergency
  • In the event of injury or illness provide appropriate first aid
  • Comply with legislative and organizational requirements relating to current water restrictions and the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operation
  • Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of the Centre's Emergency Action Plan

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Successful candidates will also have, or be willing to obtain:

  • Pool Lifeguard Certificate (Training Available)
  • Certificate of completion for "Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care" Training
  • (HLTAID011) Provide First Aid or equivalent Certificate
  • (HLTAID009) Provide CPR or equivalent Certificate
  • Proven capability to build strong and positive relationships with key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aquatic Supervision
  • Friendly, personable, and capable of communicating complex services and concepts efficiently and effectively
