About the role


Mater Engineering and Maintenance Department is currently seeking a
Biomedical Electronic Technician for a permanent full-time opportunity based at our South Brisbane campus.


As a
Biomedical Electronic Technician, you will be required to perform complex and diverse technical tasks and engage in independent decision making and judgement on a day to day basis with mínimal supervision in the provision of quality technical services.


Salary range:
$37.13 -$56.12 plus hour plus superannuation

What you'll be doing


In this role you will perform technical tasks on a day to day basis with mínimal supervision as it relates to service support of general biomedical equipment.


Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Perform a diverse range of technical tasks, from routine to complex and integrate with other disciplines to a consistent high technical standard
  • Independently solve complex technical problems regarding biomedical equipment with mínimal supervision such as: ventilators, patient monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps etc.
  • Actively participate in a multidisciplinary team consisting of one or more technical domains by providing support to the team, advice to peers, advice and/or reporting services to managers
  • Take responsibility for work at all levels within the biomedical engineering department without regular supervision.
  • Contributes to development of policies, procedures and technical practice and participate in quality and service improvements activities to continually improve patient care
  • Attend training for continuing professional and technical development
  • Participate in 24 hour, 7 day oncall roster

About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • The successful applicant must hold at least an Associate Diploma (if graduating prior to the year 2000), a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electronics or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Restricted Electrical Work Licence (competencies 1,3 and 5) as issued by Electrical Workers and Contractors Board (Qld)
  • Demonstrated high level of competence in diagnosis of faults and repairs, problem solving and technical skill with respect to the service of biomedical equipment
  • Previous experience with integrated O.R." and/or haemodialysis would be beneficial
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical advice relating to biomedical engineering to a variety of clients regarding technical standards and service delivery
  • Experience in Installing, Configuring and Supporting Networked Medical Equipment
