How will I help?
You will have direct interactions with the Treasury & Risk business units and the key business stakeholders and other Group Audit home teams. You will execute independent reviews of controls, frameworks, systems, policies and procedures, and deep dives across the Westpac Group and identify areas for remediation and opportunities for enhancement.
Major accountabilities:
- Be the primary driver of;
-internal audit planning for the Model, Risk Analytics and Treasury portfolios, including identification of key processes, risks and controls for testing
-identifying board level insights that matter, focusing on highest risk areas and influencing a stronger control environment. - Execute audits:
-Determine the risk-based scope for testing design and operating effectiveness of controls
-Oversee the delivery of audits including framing and communication of issues, recommendations, and reports.
-Collaborate with own home team specialists in treasury, credit, market and liquidity risk, and modelling to deliver high value assurance.
-Collaborate with broader Group Audit team subject matter experts in technology, data analytics, risk and compliance to increase effectiveness and efficiency of assurance. - Supervision and development of junior staff.
- Run a robust continuous monitoring program over business unit developments, activities, issue management, emerging risks or concerns – with a focus on identifying issues that matter and when they matter.
- Participate in Group Audit Strategic Priorities and home team continuous improvement initiatives.
What do I need?
We are looking for someone who ideally has the following knowledge and experience:
- At least 8 years of experience in assurance (internal or external audit), consulting (e.g. Big 4 audit firms), risk management (1LOD or 2LOD), or Treasury roles. - Candidates with a mixture of experience across these areas are highly desirable.
- Strong exposure to financial risk measurement and balance sheet management in a banking environment
- Strong understanding and working experience in one or more of: Capital management and stress testing (APS110 & APS111), Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (APS 117), funding and liquidity risk management (APS210), and credit risk management (APS113).
- Analytical skills and data analysis and or interrogation experience are desirable.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Undergraduate degree. Degree in Commerce/Accounting /Finance / Economics / Statistics or equivalent field is required.
- Additional certification such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM) is desirable.
