Citi's Independent Risk Management serves as the crucial second line of defense for the comprehensive risk management across all business sectors in the Australia/New Zealand cluster. Within the Risk Management division, the Finance Chief Risk Office (CRO) team is dedicated to overseeing and monitoring treasury risk activities, ensuring credible challenge to Treasury, and guaranteeing that Citi complies with the appropriate Risk Appetite levels concerning Liquidity, Interest Rate, Investments Risks, and Capital Adequacy.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Senior Vice President, Treasury Risk Manager - Hybrid (Internal Job Title: Senior Vice President, Treasury Risk Senior Officer I - C14), situated in Sydney, Australia.

As a member of the global Finance CRO management team, this role is instrumental in ensuring robust oversight, consistent policy implementation across countries and entities in the Australia/New Zealand Sub-Cluster, and resource optimization.

Expectations for this role include:

  • Supervising the creation, enhancement, delivery, and maintenance of top-notch Risk Management programs, policies, and practices that focus on Liquidity Risk, Interest Rate Risk (IRRBB), Investments, and Capital Risk to ensure adherence to Citi's policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborating with Asia North & Australia/New Zealand Cluster Head, other Finance CRO clusters, global risk teams, and senior figures to ensure optimal risk activities, including policy and procedure enforcement.
  • Directly engaging with senior regulators on asset-liability management matters related to key legal entities to promote responsible risk-taking aligning with internal risk appetite standards and prudential requirements.
  • Coordinating with global and specialist teams to ensure consistency, standardization, completeness of controls, and effective challenge identification, backed by necessary documentation and evidence.
  • Providing guidance and supervision on assessing complex issues, structuring potential solutions, and driving effective resolution with other senior stakeholders.
  • Leading Global Risk projects to enhance Risk assessment accuracy and implementing these enhancements across the country/entity/cluster or region.
  • Reviewing and endorsing local risk frameworks, monitoring compliance with risk limits/triggers, and collaborating with key risk seniors across regions and globally to enhance the accuracy of regulatory and management reporting.
  • Establishing professional ties with relevant regulatory bodies, representing Citi in vital regulatory matters, and acting as a liaison with regulatory examiners, Internal Audit, and external auditors to oversee related remediation.
  • Analyzing and providing challenge and oversight for Risk Appetite Statements, Stress Testing, and other ad-hoc regulatory/governance projects, escalating issues with suggested mitigations as necessary.
  • Participating in new product approval reviews to ensure alignment with Citi's risk policies.
  • Exercising voting rights in senior governance forums and appropriately assessing risk in business decisions.

The ideal candidate for this role possesses the following skills and exposure:

  • Degree in Quantitative or Financial discipline; a postgraduate degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in risk management, treasury, or support functions, with exposure to balance sheet, financial products, and financial/risk analysis.
  • Previous work experience in significant entities and/or regional markets.
  • Extensive knowledge of treasury, market risk, liquidity management, and derivative products.
  • Expertise in asset-liability management, financial instruments, risk metrics, and Risk Management.
  • Ability to engage with auditors/regulators, solid understanding of best practice guidelines, and regulations.
  • Advanced analytical, technical, and quantitative skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel/VBA, Word, PowerPoint) and SQL, along with project management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and lead individuals across cultures at a senior level, operate effectively across diverse businesses, and articulate complex problems and solutions clearly.
  • Business acumen to collaborate with partners in Risk, Treasury, Markets, and other support Functions.
  • Ability to work in groups, tackle multiple tasks simultaneously, negotiate and resolve conflicts, drive changes, exhibit self-initiative, and remain organized and detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrated resilience, motivation, and a keen focus on attention to detail.
