Development Manager

  • 12 months contract with possible extension

Our health client based on the gold coast is seeking an experienced Development Manager to lead strategic planning, digital product and solution development processes; along with the skills to manage data modelling, mapping, interface design and data migration; and the ability to liaise and consult with stakeholders and provide effective engagement.


As the Development Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide authoritative, expert and timely advice to the Senior Director Digital Experience, Chief Digital Officer, executive and senior management, and other stakeholders on digital product and solution development services, ensuring the successful planning, delivery and sustainability of digital initiatives
  • Lead in the delivery of governance, change management and assurance services for product and software development and testing, providing advice, communication and engagement, pre/postimplementation testing, capability building and oversight to manage the delivery of service improvements
  • Manage the web and developer teams through scrums, release planning, sprint planning and software development lifecycle, delivering improvements to development platforms and end products and increasing domain expert, citizen developer and procoder engagement
  • Lead in the development of strategic and operation plans, advocating from the user perspective in the delivery of new functionality, platform capability and development of product roadmaps, including the continuous development and redesigning of services through reflection and analysis of key learnings and feedback
  • Review, analyse and provide guidance in relation to product and software development, testing and data migration initiatives across the Department, identifying gaps in services, assessing risks, determining the impact to the organisation and recommending mitigation strategies
  • Research emerging, software and web development initiatives across this health service, providing advice to stakeholders on emerging trends and developing strategies with multiple tools, infrastructure and architecture considerations across local and statewide support solutions
  • Liaise and negotiate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders in the development and sustainability of digital product initiatives, managing conflicting priorities within tight timeframes, resolving issues and ensuring costeffective outcomes are achieved within a constantly changing business environment

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • A tertiary qualification in an information technology or computer science discipline or related field
  • 5+ Years' experience in PHP, and MSSQL as well as a strong understanding of AWS/Azure Services
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including the ability to negotiate, advise, influence others and work collaboratively with people including senior business and technical stakeholders to make decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and promote ITIL Service Management processes primarily incident / problem / change / release management
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and mentor a team at strategic and operational levels in the integrated operation of complex enterprise information systems to achieve defined service levels
  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies (Prince 2)
  • A certification of Fundamentals in Microsoft Azure AZ900 would be highly regarded
  • Ability to work on site at Department's Facilities is required

This role will need to be performed on the Gold Coast in Queensland and is unsuitable for remote working.
