  • The General Manager Legal is responsible for managing all areas of the legal function for Crown Perth. This includes managing the provisions of timely, commercially focused, accurate, relevant, cost effective and valueadded legal advice as appropriately required by the company, including ensuring compliance by the business with its various legislative, contractual, and other obligations.
  • The role extends to managing the provision of legal advice in relation to all areas of the business, including gaming and liquor licensing, food and beverage operations, events and conferences, hotel and day spa operations, marketing and PR, procurement, leasing and licensing, IP, HR and employment, IT, residential and strata management, compliance, security and surveillance operations, and health and safety.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
:

  • Manage the preparation, review, negotiation and enforcement of contracts entered into by the company
  • Overseeing the legal compliance aspects of the marketing and promotional activities (including trade promotions) of the business, including advising on any trade practices and fair trading issues
  • Highlighting key areas of risk/ concern/importance for the company to the Property CEO and/or to the Board
  • Intellectual property provide intellectual property advice on issues affecting the company; Provide assistance with these matters to the parent company and the group as a whole.
  • Manage and lead the strategic plans of the Legal department and align with the business objectives.
  • Attend Crown Property Board meetings and prepare Board papers

Key Selection Criteria
:

  • Admitted (or eligibility to be admitted) to practise as a Solicitor of the Supreme court in relevant state
  • Extensive experience in a similar legal environment
  • Solid understanding of business sensitivities and confidentiality in a regulated environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and advise on risk and compliance matters.
  • Ability to advise and influence all levels of executive, management and employees
  • Value based leadership, including the ability to model and drive cultural change across a team
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and managing competing demands
