Your opportunity

Our Human Factors team in Sydney is growing so we are looking for an experienced Human Factors (HF) / Human Centred Design (HCD) specialist to join us.

We are involved in a variety of exciting projects incorporating HF/HCD into infrastructure, system and service design and providing behavioural insights for bespoke projects.

We are an established HF team with clients in NSW, VIC and QLD and work hand-in hand our wider Australian and International HF teams.

We are in the process of expanding our multi-industry offering and keen to have HF/HCD leaders that can help new clients understand HF/HCD approaches and outcomes.

The team structure allows excellent leadership opportunities for those interested in technical or line management and/or leadership of HF streams of work for different industries.

We are well supported by a wider multi-disciplinary team with access to user testing suite, virtual and augmented reality modellers/equipment and 3D printing for mock-ups.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead Human Factors (HF) integration and Human Centred Design (HCD) activities for major projects and packages
  • Coordinate delivery of HF/HCD technical assessments such as enduser testing (with VR or mockups), usability assessments, task analyses, human error assessments, anthropometric assessments, workload assessments, behavioural impact/change assessments.
  • Lead the delivery of HF/HCD reporting including management plans, technical and assurance reports
  • Management of junior HF/HCD resources on projects and supporting their skills development in project teams.
  • Engage with colleagues, clients and project stakeholders to deliver and win new work
  • Support wider HF team activities to promote awareness of Mott MacDonald's capabilities and services with clients, industry bodies and stakeholders
  • About You

As an experienced HF / HCD professional within a consultancy environment, with at least 7 years of experience, you're comfortable working independently and making commercial choices to meet client needs.

It would be preferable if you have experience working in the rail or transport industry. Experience with ETCS/ERTMS also desirable. Additionally, you're able to work within a team, ensuring communication is maintained to deliver to deadlines.
To be successful in this role you will have/be:

  • Graduated with a qualification in an Ergonomics or Psychology related discipline.
  • Eligible for certification/chartership with relevant HF/HCD institutes (e.g. HFESA, CIEHF, IEF, BPS)
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Australian and international HF/HCD standards and best practice (e.g., ISO 9241, AS7470, ISO 11064)
  • Excellent peer review and report writing skills
  • Ability to develop successful commercial proposals and tender responses
  • Enthusiastic and agile, with the ability to define methods and scale Human Factors input to project scope
  • Experience managing teams and/or suppliers on complex projects
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage different stakeholders and identify enduser needs
  • Proven selfstarter who can manage their own workload and responsibilities.

We want you to be with us for the long-term, so providing you with ongoing development and training opportunities is important to us.
