Planning and Environment Manager

Our client is a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, dedicated to pioneering sustainable solutions for a cleaner and greener future.
As a seasoned Planning and Environment Manager, you will lead their renewable energy projects through the intricacies of state and Commonwealth environmental regulations. This pivotal role requires expertise in managing the planning and environmental aspects of renewable energy projects, with a specific focus on wind, solar and BESS projects.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Referrals:
- Lead and manage the preparation of environmental referral documentation for submission to State and Commonwealth regulatory bodies.
- Coordinate and engage with relevant stakeholders during the referral process to address inquiries and ensure compliance.
- Develop comprehensive project plans for projects, integrating environmental considerations into every phase.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align project objectives with environmental compliance requirements.
- Oversee the permitting process, including applications for state and Commonwealth environmental permits.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, ensuring adherence to all environmental regulations and securing necessary approvals.
- Manage and coordinate environmental impact assessments, addressing potential impacts and proposing effective mitigation measures.
- Ensure that all environmental studies comply with both state and Commonwealth standards.
- Cultivate positive relationships with local communities, addressing concerns, and ensuring transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, consultants, and project partners, to achieve project goals.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Planning, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Extensive experience in managing planning and environmental aspects of renewable energy projects in Australia.
- In-depth knowledge of state and Commonwealth environmental regulations and the environmental referral process.
- Strong understanding of the Australian environmental impact assessment framework.
- Proven experience in successful engagement with state and Commonwealth regulatory bodies.
