The Role:


An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic individual to join the team at Broadmeadows Adult Inpatient Unit, Northern Health as Associate Nurse Unit Manager ANUM (RPN3).


The ANUM fulfils the roles and responsibilities of the registered nurse, demonstrating expert knowledge and skills whilst assuming a prominent management focus within the inpatient unit.

The ANUM is an integral member of the inpatient leadership team, assisting the Program Manager & Team Leader in the course of their duties to ensure efficient operation of the clinical environment.

The ANUM works closely with the team leader in managing the nursing and clerical resources available to the department, sets the clinical standards to achieve a high quality of nursing care and fosters and maintains a working environment which provides professional development and job satisfaction for all staff.


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Registration as a registered nurse under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act with AHPRA.
  • Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, or, Bachelor Degree in Nursing plus a Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
  • Welldeveloped knowledge and understanding of the public mental health service environment, the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation, policies and strategic directions.
  • Capacity to undertake direct clinical duties including treatment and clinical management of clients receiving acute mental health care.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective relationships and communicate effectively with service leaders, clinicians, consumers, families/carers, colleagues and other service providers.

  • An ability to work responsibly and with autonomy.
  • Professional selfawareness and reflective practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

  • Demonstrated provision of high quality patient care
  • Developed assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving and prioritisation skills
  • High motivation and willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and computer/keyboard skills
  • High level of reliability and professional conduct
