Are you a strong media and corporate affairs leader?

Optus is seeking a media-savvy, experienced leader to join our Corporate Affairs team.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the company's corporate affairs strategies, with the goal of promoting and protecting the organisation's reputation with key external stakeholders through the use of high-quality external communications strategies and deliverables.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the corporate affairs strategy and plans to support business objectives and Optus' vision to become the most loved, everyday brand with lasting customer relationships
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, including media and other influencers
  • Manage crisis communications, including developing messaging and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Guide the company's public affairs programs, including advocacy efforts, media campaigns and grassroots outreach
  • Support key Optus executives and important initiatives
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as legal, government relations, regulatory and policy and networks, to ensure alignment and integration of corporate affairs activities
  • Play a mentorship and leadership role for our team of committed corporate affairs professionals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, media or business
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in media, preferably with a tech, telco or agency
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful corporate affairs strategies
  • Extensive network of media contacts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyse complex information and develop clear and concise messaging
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and crossfunctionally
  • Experience managing a team of professionals
