CommSec is Australia's leading online broker providing equities, international shares, exchange traded funds, research and margin lending services to our retail and sophisticated clients.

The CommSec Data and Insights Centre of Excellence (COE) is a central Data and Analytics function under the Pace model that supports the delivery of Data and Analytics offerings and services at Pace.

The COE's mission is to provide trusted data, capabilities and actionable insights in partnership with our stakeholders to drive customer experience, empower decision making and safeguard our data.

The Insights and Decision Science Chapter within the COE is responsible for CommSec's Insights and Analytics functions.

The team supports the strategic decision-making process of the business by way of regular reporting, ad hoc analysis, insights and data science models.

We are also responsible for providing integrated online and offline behavioural insights, building analytics frameworks that help assess and drive customer engagement and building advanced analytics solutions and tools to help CommSec optimise its resources, improve its processes and minimise risk.


The team builds and maintains a number of reports that supports and empowers the business to enhance our existing offerings, strengthen our operational risk management and deliver exciting new products to market.

This role will mainly be supporting the CommSec business and risk area.

This includes assisting the business and operational teams with frequent analysis and deep dives, automation of manual processes as well as developing data models to support CommSec leadership in defining and communicating customer-centric strategy.


Key responsibilities

  • Supporting CommSec in monitoring continuous product performance, pricing, and reviews by providing data analysis, insights, and reporting across the CommSec portfolio.
  • Delivering and supporting projects and initiatives including process improvements, remediations, regulatory changes, customer acquisition, product enhancements.
  • Ensuring Tableau and Alteryx servers run on schedule for continuous business reporting activities and create new schedules for new business reporting requirements
  • Enhancing and visualising gathered data in order to turn it into actionable insights for the business.
  • Conducting analysis and segmentation to guide consumer dialogues and uncover opportunities.

As a self-starter with good organisational skills and excellent communication skills, some of the key traits/experience we are after are as follows:

  • Have good experience in the financial services industry; experience in the stockbroking industry is an advantage.
  • Be commercially astute, with strong analytical skills, attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work with large and complex data sets.
  • Excellent Excel and SQL (preferably Microsoft SQL Server, Teradata), Tableau and Alteryx skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on multiple activities (BAU, projects and initiatives) against competing priorities
  • Influencing and consulting skills the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
