Network Engineer

About the role

The WA Network Services team supports public sector customer by providing operational and project services to the Western Australian Government.

The core responsibility for this role is to support the implementation of network solutions to our WA customers. Including low level network design, hardware provisioning, deployment, and documentation.

Skills & Experience

  • 3-5 Years of hands-on experience in deploying and supporting data and wireless technologies:

Cisco: LAN, WAN, Wireless (AirOS & Catalyst), ACI

Aruba: LAN, Wireless

  • Experience with the following protocols and technologies:

Routing protocols: OSFP, iBGP, eBGP.

WAN management: traffic shaping and QoS.

LAN: VLAN, STP, port-channels, HSRP.

Strong understanding of Layer 1 (structured cabling, media types, etc.)

  • Working within a Project Management Framework.
  • Experience using and understanding troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships with customers, internal stakeholders, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to communicate to a diverse audience.
  • Experience working within a well-defined ITIL process framework (change, incident, and asset management).

Preferable certifications:

  • Networking: CCNA, CCNA Wireless, CCNP, ACSA, ACSP.
  • Cloud: AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, Azure Fundamentals, Azure Network Engineer Associate.
