The Opportunity

The Senior / Principal Professional (Defence) position plays a vital role in securing and overseeing medium to large projects, leading the Defence Civil Infrastructure Team, and expanding business operations in the Northern Territory.

The selected candidate will manage project resources, budgets, timelines, and foster strong client relationships. This role involves preparing proposals and presentations to secure new projects.

Responsibilities

  • Technical / Professional Expertise (meeting client requirements, conducting engineering calculations, modeling, and design tasks...)
  • Financial / Project Management (ensuring technical quality, adhering to budgets and timelines, monitoring project progress and client satisfaction).
  • Business Development and Client Management (building key relationships, creating project plans, managing proposals, and marketing materials).
  • Internal Business (establishing connections within the organization to enhance value for clients.)
  • Leadership (passion for contributing to national defense, mentoring junior staff, sharing expertise, and showing confidence in ideas).
  • Cultural (demonstrating interest in team development, organizing activities, delegating work for skill development, and recognizing top performers).

Efforts are expected to be distributed across the following time categories:

  • Client Service - Projects (80%-85%)
  • Client Development and Bidding (10%-15%)
  • Our People, Culture and Training (5%-10%)

KPI's

  • Successfully completing projects exceeding client expectations.
  • Demonstrating excellent report writing skills.
  • Meeting project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Effectively coaching and guiding junior staff.
  • Nurturing existing client relationships.

About you

  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience in civil design and delivery of various projects, including land development and buildings.
  • Chartered Engineering Professional (preferred) or RPEQ Certification
  • 5+ years of experience in civil infrastructure projects
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident only
  • Proficiency in various engineering software
  • Passion for supporting Defence projects.
