Our client is a leading construction group specialising in a range of projects spanning across residential and commercial. Committed to excellence, innovation, and sustainability, this is a team of dedicated professionals who work collaboratively to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget and have an exciting scale up over the next decade.
Job Description
This role is a critical appointment to the team reporting into the Director and will require a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Controller who has considerable experience across the property sector.
Your role will include a broader list of duties and responsibilities, however will cover the key areas of:
- Supporting decision-making and setting strategic direction through evidence-based evaluations, including financial models, analysis, and reporting metrics.
- Collaborate with various business stakeholders, such as estimating, drafting, and construction teams.
- Oversee the general financial compliance program, including BAS, FBT, and tax matters
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, development, and collaboration within the finance team.
- Develop and maintain systems and processes that ensure the seamless integration of finance with all business units, with a strong focus on effective control systems.
- Preparation of annual group budgets and monitoring of budget against actuals
- Establish and maintain financial models and metrics to measure the unit cost of dwellings, labor rates, and overhead allocation (management accounting functions).
- Oversee all financial activities related to projects and growth opportunities.
The Successful Applicant
To be successful in this role, you will be CA/CPA qualified and have proven experience as a Financial Controller or Commercial Finance Manager within the Construction sector and have an in-depth knowledge of construction accounting, financial management and cost control. Effective communication and leadership skills will be paramount to your success in this role, as is your ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Seeking someone who is energetic, commercial and ambitious and will look to grow with the business into the CFO long-term.
