Industrial & Employee Relations (Human Resources & Recruitment) Diocese of Ballarat Catholic Education Limited (DOBCEL) schools are located within a diverse and geographically extensive diocese extending across Western Victoria, from the Murray River to the Southern Ocean.

DOBCEL provides governance to 57 schools and partners with them to promote Catholic identity, high quality learning and a culture of respectful and trusting relationships.

As the administrative arm of DOBCEL, Catholic Education Ballarat (CEB) provides support, service and leadership to Catholic Primary and Secondary schools in the Diocese of Ballarat.

The Role Catholic Education Ballarat (CEB) currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Employee Relations professional to join the business as the Employee Relations Manager.

Reporting to the Assistant Director People and Development with two direct reports, the Employee Relations Manager is at the forefront of leading and managing operational ER and IR issues.


Your key responsibilities will include:

Relationship Management:
Build and maintain effective relationships with school leadership, staff, and other stakeholders, ensuring smooth ER operations.

Strategic Solutions:

Develop and implement strategic ER/IR solutions in partnership with the leadership team, addressing both immediate and long-term organisational needs.


Issue Resolution:

Lead the investigation and resolution of complex employee relations issues, including performance management, conflict resolution, workplace grievances, and disputes.


Workplace Safety:

Oversee workplace health and safety management, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices, and support the OHS Coordinator in managing Work Cover activities.


Policy Development:
Review, develop, and maintain ER policies, guidelines, and procedures to align with legislative changes and best practices.

Leadership:

Lead and guide the work of an ER Advisor and OHS Coordinator, ensuring effective collaboration and delivery of ER and OHS services.

The Ideal Candidate To be successful in this role, you will need: Experience: Demonstrated expertise in providing ER and IR advice, managing performance processes, handling workplace investigations, and resolving disputes.


Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of relevant legislation, including the Fair Work Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Skills:
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with a knack for managing multiple priorities.

Qualifications:
A relevant tertiary qualification in Industrial Relations, Employment Law, Human Resources, or a related field.

Compliance:
Willingness to undergo a Working with Children Check and Police Check, and a valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
