We're looking for the Head of Strategic Procurement to join the Strategy & Finance team.


This role is responsible for leading the procurement team to effectively support WorkCover Executive in all matters procurement and contract management.

You will provide strong leadership and direction to a team of procurement professionals, manage WorkCover's procurement functions and develop and oversee the annual review of WorkCover's Procurement Policies.


The Head of Strategic Procurement has the ability to lead, proactively communicate about procurement activities and initiatives and work collaboratively to ensure appropriate governance is in place.


You'll contribute to:

  • Leading the procurement team to effectively support WorkCover Executive in all matters procurement and contract management.
  • Developing and overseeing the annual review of WorkCover's Procurement Policies to ensure compliance with State Procurement Policy and guidelines.
  • Oversee the development of organisational capability associated with procurement.
  • Building capability within the Procurement Team through appropriate training, coaching and mentoring.

A bit about you:

  • Degree or post graduate qualification in business, procurement or in a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in leading a procurement, contracts and supply function in a large organisation.
  • Proven ability to effectively plan and think ahead to organise work responsibilities in order to meet deadlines and maximise work output.
  • Ability to lead, provide guidance, direction, coaching and mentoring to direct reports to achieve individual and group objectives.
  • Welldeveloped understanding of procurement and contracts frameworks, including contract formation, negotiation and ongoing contract management.
  • Ability to lead a procurement, contracts and supply team within a large organisation.
  • High level of presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and negotiate integrated and sustainable outcomes.
  • Ability to provide guidance, direction, coaching and mentoring to direct reports to achieve individual and group objectives.
