Looking for an experienced Cook to run our Aged Care kitchen

We believe care is only part of the equation and have created each of our residences focusing on natural light and open spaces providing beautifully landscaped, luxurious spaces. We are passionate about aged care and are accepting applications for a Head Cook for our residential facility Advantaged Care - Edensor Gardens located at Edensor Park near Fairfield.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Head Cook within Advantaged Care at Edensor Gardens you will be accountable to the Executive Manager for the day-to-day management of the kitchen.

We are seeking an Aged Care Cook to work Monday – Friday

The role involves cooking breakfast, morning tea and lunch, overseeing dinner preparation, washing and cleaning up after cooking, overseeing dining experience, ordering, maintain food safety standards and maintaining budget.
Experience with European and Italian cuisine.
Italian speaking would be a distinct advantage

Edensor Gardens is additional services home.

As part of the management team you are accountable for menu development, stock control and the overall preparation and serving of nutritious and attractive meals for our residents.

The Successful candidate will hold:

  • Certificate IV in commercial cookery or equivalent qualification
  • Current knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP and hygiene standards, and State & Commonwealth regulatory requirements
  • Experience in commercial cooking environment and/or aged care catering
  • Excellent Communication and Documentation Skills
  • Knowledge of dietary nutrition needs for the aged
  • Previous experience in supervising and coordinating staff
  • Basic to intermediate computer proficiency, or the willingness and ability to develop computer skills to operate electronic documentation software
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all aged care stakeholders
  • Show leadership, maturity, initiative, the ability to work in a team, prioritise work and display effective time management
  • Ability to manage bulk ordering, purchasing, and stock control of food
  • Understanding and commitment to continuous quality improvements, ongoing professional development and the ability to manage change processes
