Introduction
We are seeking an Environmental Sustainability Engineer Trainee to join our Foundry team in Ballina. In this role, you will assisting an energy audit for the energy sources in the foundry and pattern shop.
This is a casual position of approximately 2-4 weeks, that would suit someone studying electrical engineering (or similar). We can be flexible on the days.
In this position, you will report to the QEHS Manager, Material Transportation.
What you'll do
• Use equipment provided to undertake an energy audit of the Ballina foundry. This will include understanding the power requirements of each asset - both on startup and during operation and the usage time within the production environment. It will also involve directly measuring power draw (an electrician will also be available to consult).
• Analyse the data obtained from the audit.
• Utilise your knowledge of the energy environment to develop recommendations on how Ballina could reduce their CO2 emissions.
• Develop action plans for these recommendations and assist the site to implement.
• At all times, have a duty of care to your own and your fellow workers health and safety per WHS legislation.
Who you are
• 2+ years of study towards an electrical engineering degree (or similar area).
• Ability to construct written reports outlining findings and developing recommendations.
• Fluency in English language.
Desirable
• Understanding of the requirements of an energy audit.
• Mechanical aptitude/comfortable to be in a manufacturing environment.
This is a great opportunity to get some work experience while studying.
