Job Description:

The Strategy Manager will play an integral role in building the strategy, narrative, and policy foundation for a newly established business unit, RDE – Regional Development and Engagement, with a clear focus on delivering positive outcomes to regional Australia. The role will provide strategic advice to the GM, Regional Strategy, Programmes and Infrastructure and the Chief Development Officer, whilst also leading and collaborating with other Business Units and other teams within RDE.

[ads1] Job Responsibilities:
  • Engaging with senior leadership team to build buy-in and support to project approach and recommendations
  • Determining and designing the appropriate analytical framework, and sourcing relevant data points to conduct the analysis
  • Solving complex business problems by applying a hypothesis-led approach to problem solving
  • Evaluating strategic options and clearly articulating the key implications to RDE and nbn
  • Synthetising key insights and findings, and translating them into actionable recommendations for the business
  • Developing complex, flexible financial models to support advice/recommendations
  • Undertaking research on a number of topics and different business models (e.g. new revenue streams, cost benchmarking, digitisation, among others)
Job Requirements:
  • Excellent financial modelling skills, with the ability to structure, design and develop complex financial models (inc. DCF valuation, equity analysis models for the purposes of supporting strategic recommendations)
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in strategy and/or transactional roles, either through a top tier strategy consulting firm, strategy team of a large corporate, an investment bank or Big 4 accounting firm
  • Proficient at simplifying complex ideas in written and verbal communication, with proven ability to develop and present compelling presentations to senior executives
  • Highly proficient at problem solving, with demonstrable experience in decomposing a problem into constituent parts and designing an appropriate analytical framework to solve it
  • Ability to autonomously structure and drive complex, and often ambiguous, analyses/projects/requests with limited supervision, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changing needs
  • Top university degree ideally with an honours qualification (post-grad qualification desirable – e.g. CA, CPA, CFA or MBA)
