You must be an Australian citizen to be eligible to work at the NSW Crime Commission.
Successful applicants must also demonstrate that they have received two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine or provide acceptable evidence of a medical contraindication acceptable to the Commission.
About the NSW Crime Commission
The NSW Crime Commission is established to investigate and disrupt organised crime and other serious criminal activity and to pursue confiscation of the proceeds of crime.The Commission is structured into a number of sections consisting of operational divisions, support teams and specialist units.
The Commission’s Legal Services exercises independent professionalism at all times, provides legal services (including legal advice, litigation services and transactional legal work) to the Commission.Significant aspects of the work include: supporting litigation; supporting the Commission’s criminal and financial investigations, advising on legal compliance; and preparing and making applications for statutory warrants on behalf of the Commission.
About the role
The Lawyer Grade I-II is responsible for routine and regular legal activities (under supervision) across (as applicable) criminal investigations, financial investigations, and/or coercive examinations and investigations to ensure that the Commission complies with all relevant legislation, policy and procedures. The role provides legal advice and assistance to the Commission on a range of legal transactions and litigation proceedings, and undertakes guided legal research and analysis to support the functions of the Commission.
Note: Specific roles may focus on criminal investigations or financial investigations; however, Lawyers may be required to undertake work relating to any of these areas as required.
Security Vetting
The recommended candidates must be willing to participate in and secure appropriate security clearances by providing comprehensive details about their personal and financial interests and other relevant information about themselves, their families and their associates. Refer to the Crime Commission Regulation for the mandatory factors required to be assessed for a Commission security clearance.
It is a condition of employment at the Commission that a member of staff obtain and maintain:
a security clearance issued by the Commissioner, and a security clearance issued by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency that the Commissioner determines is necessary for the position-
