The Opportunity   We are currently looking for a Structures Inspector to join our team on a permanent basis based at our Perth Airport head office with regular travel required (approximately 100 days of travel per year away from home). The Structures Inspector undertakes inspections of railway structures (Bridges, Culverts and Sign Gantries) and reports on the condition of our infrastructure.  The role reports to Senior Structures Engineer and may lead to an interesting career path focusing on the rail infrastructure incorporating many aspects of civil and structures engineering pertaining to the management of a 5000km rail network.   The Role

In this role you will be responsible for: 

  • Undertaking inspections of railway structures (e.g. bridges and culverts et al) and reports in accordance with the Railway Code of Practice, and as directed by the Senior Structures Engineer.
  • Documenting structures inspection reports accurately and concisely using Arc’s systems.
  • Recommending suitable maintenance actions and priority items based on inspections and document recommendations in inspection reports.
  • Liaising with Regional Engineers and Structures supervisors for required repairs in accordance with the Railway Code of Practice.
  • Operating 4WD vehicle to travel across our regions and rail access roads to complete inspections.
  • Carrying out quality related inspections for construction and maintenance activities related to the structures.
  • Providing assistance to Senior Structures Engineer to develop work programmes for capital and operational works.
  About You To be successful in this role we would like you to have
  • Cert III as minimum (Civil Construction), Cert III in Railway Infrastructure or other trades in Carpentry, fabrication.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in inspecting road or rail infrastructure in transport, mining, or heavy industries.
  • Personnel with construction background in above industry with suitable trade qualification are encouraged to apply.
  • Use of specialised inspection software and basic proficiency in Word and Excel is required.
  • Experience in operation of 4WD vehicle and other small plant is preferable.
  • Arc Infrastructure protection officer qualification is must for this role and candidates should be able to obtain to be successful in this role.
  • Current WA Driver’s Licence - Manual
  • WA Construction Safety Awareness Card (or ability to attain)
  • Working at Heights Permit (or ability to attain)
  • Confined Spaces (or ability to attain)
