: Aunty Agnes Shea High School is located in the Gungahlin district of Canberra and will open in Term 1, 2025. The school will cater for up to 800 students from years 7 to 10 and up to 90 teaching and ancillary staff. The new school will provide high quality contemporary indoor and outdoor learning environments. These inclusive facilities will support students with a diverse range of learning and social needs.We are looking for a motivated, highly organised and personable Building Service Officer (BSO) to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to be the inaugural BSO at a brand new school. This role will involve collaborating with the Business Manager to oversee the general maintenance, safety, security, functionality and aesthetics of the school buildings and grounds, and managing the establishment of a new build. Key responsibilities will include:
General Maintenance: Oversee the upkeep and presentation of the school’s buildings, grounds, fittings, furniture, and equipment. This includes coordinating repairs and regular maintenance. Outdoor tasks include mowing lawns, trimming shrubs and clearing walkways. Health and Safety: Ensure buildings meet all required health and safety standards, including regular inspections and compliance with building regulations and Directorate requirements. New build: Assist with the management of the new build, working with all stakeholders involved. Coordinate contractors and suppliers to ensure work is completed efficiently and to the required standard. Manage systems including heating, lighting, ventilation, air conditioning, and electrical distribution. This also includes ensuring compliance with safety systems and building management systems. Administration: Effectively use a variety of computer programs as required and maintain accurate records. A variety of tasks to maintain cleanliness and order of the school. Regularly restocking supplies including soap, paper towels and toilet paper. Safety Inspections: Conduct routine checks to ensure the building meets safety standards and reporting any issues to management.These responsibilities ensure that the school environment remains clean, safe, functional, and conducive to student learning at Aunty Agnes Shea High School.

An industry recognised trade qualification or equivalent work experience. First Aid qualification. A First Aid Certificate or a willingness to undertake appropriate training.
