About You :

  • Certificate IV in Building and Construction or equivalent

Position Summary :

The Contracts Administator / Junior Project Manager is responsible for managing all contracts and supporting the Project Manager to plan and deliver completed projects. The Contract Administrator should have a background in construction with a keen sense of business management, understanding budgeting and using the latest technology.

While mostly carrying out estimating and contract administrative management, this role is for a candidate who would like to do more Project Management work. They will become part of a dynamic team using the very latest tools and equipment, with unrivalled support that will enable them to focus on delivering their best.

Key Requirements :

  • Knowledge and minimum of 2 + years of relevant experience
  • Must have extensive construction experience
  • Highly capable in creating take-offs and reading drawings
  • A thorough understanding of building elements and terminology used in commercial construction
  • A good understanding of IT basics
  • Confident negotiation skills
  • A sound understanding of the structural steel industry and client requirements
  • Capable of preparing client proposals to a professional standard
  • Proven ability to analyse processes and ensure continuous improvement
  • Excellent phone based interpersonal/telephone skills and intuition
  • Ability to generate ideas for business improvement
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Persistent approach to time management
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy and resourcefulness
  • Excellent planning, organisation and computer skills
  • High degree of accountability and attention to detail
  • A technical mindset, with strong attention to detail
  • Extensive experience in managing complex projects, ideally within a similar consulting or building environment.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated project management skills, effective negotiation skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience using construction software
  • Must possess strong organisation and administration skills
  • Strong understanding of financial and account records
  • Experience managing EHS duties as required
  • Ability to solve problems and work independently

Job Responsibility :

  • Work closely with Project Manager to assist in all areas of procurement, document control and contract administration
  • Manage and build estimating item libraries
  • Sourcing, compiling and negotiating best price options
  • Build trust and credibility with clients
  • Use common Office packages with demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft office, and CRM (Strumis/other)
  • Work closely with management team to deliver sales targets and revenue
  • Presenting company products and services to clients at all levels over the phone but most importantly, management
  • Ensuring that all activity levels required to deliver performance indicators are met
  • Preparing client proposals
  • Preparing front end design or case study with proposals where needed
  • Prepare and present Bill of Quantities
  • Liaise between site personnel and suppliers
  • Identify cost opportunities and risks
  • Follow up with client issues as they arise
  • Will be required to occasionally work extended working hours
  • Actively maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
