Baker/Pastry Chef

We are a family owned plant based cafe/bakery and we are all about using locally sourced, high quality ingredients to create healthier and flavoursome offerings for our locals. We are a small team that likes to create a fun work environment and a good vibe for our customers.
We are looking for a creative and experienced individual, who understands our vision of creating bakery/sweets using healthier ingredients, keeping consistent quality. Someone with a positive attitude and who enjoys their work. The successful candidate must satisfy the following criteria:
- Trade Certificate IV of Bakery or Pastry or both
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in managing bakery section on your own or with small team
- Must be able to do breads like sourdough, ciabatta, focaccia and pastry includes cinnamon scrolls, sponge for lamingtons etc, following the recipes.
- Ability to work efficiently but also keeping the work area neat and tidy
- Be able to communicate well with the owner and other team members
- Commands respect and hard work in the kitchen, able to work well with hot section kitchen chefs
- Team player and supportive of a culture of teamwork
- High food standards in taste and presentation
- Able to manage weekly ordering system
Your duties and responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
- 4:00 AM start
- Supervision and participation of daily bakery production of approved menu
- Menu Planning and ideas for specials
- Responsible for maintaining food stock, food portion control, waste management, and accept deliveries (receipt and storage).
- Ensuring that all breads/pastry is baked properly and on time. Able to handle equipment, appliances, small wares, supplies, and tools effectively and as per requirements.
- Ensure consistency & quality is always maintained to a high standard
- Assist with clean up after and during service.
- Understanding application of food safety. Maintain high kitchen standards in all areas of operation, food hygiene and safety, food quality, and preparation.
- Improve operational efficiency of the kitchen with other chefs by adhering to and improving kitchen policy and process.Ability to remain calm under pressure during busy times.
