Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Enrolled Nurse to join our Central Sterilising Department. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper cleaning, sterilisation, and maintenance of medical equipment and instruments, contributing to the highest standards of patient care and safety.
About the role:
We have multiple contracts available across Hospital & Health services in QLD ranging from 4-12 weeks with potential to extended. Duties for this contract include:
- Perform cleaning, disinfection, and sterilisation of medical and surgical instruments according to established protocols and infection control standards.
- Operate and maintain sterilisation equipment, including autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners.
- Inspect, assemble, and package sterile supplies and instruments.
- Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of sterilisation processes and equipment usage.
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure timely and efficient supply of sterile instruments.
- Assist with the training and orientation of new staff in sterilisation procedures and protocols.
- Monitor and report any issues with sterilisation equipment or procedures to the relevant supervisors.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety and hygiene standards.
Key Requirements:
- Certificate III in Sterilisation.
- Enrolled Nurse (EN) with current AHPRA registration
- Australian working rights
- Updated Australian Immunisation History
- National Police Check
- Previous experience in a central sterilising department or similar role is preferred.
- Strong understanding of infection control and sterilisation practices.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
