Principal Engineer - Full Time Perm Opportunity
Our Principal Engineer will play a critical role in leading the modernisation of our core systems, from a legacy monolithic architecture and desktop application to a modern, cloud-based platform, primarily utilising Amazon Web Services (AWS).
This role requires a combination of strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of modern software engineering practices. In collaboration with the Head of Engineering, the role is accountable for setting the technical and architectural direction, elevating engineering standards, modernising & uplifting engineering practices, and ensuring a seamless transition to a more secure, scalable, efficient, and agile technology stack.
They will be a key player in driving innovation and experimentation across the Product Engineering organisation.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of leading large-scale Modernisation / migration projects.
- Extensive experience with AWS cloud services and ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of modern architecture patterns, such as cloud-native, microservices, serverless computing, and containerisation
- Proficiency in a range of programming languages and technologies relevant to cloud-based development.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Desirable
- Knowledge of digital transformation and the latest technology trends.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution at an enterprise level
