THE CAREER OPPORTUNITY
Due to a period of sustained growth, we are looking for an experienced and qualified Leading Hand Trailer Mechanic to help support our company service centre based at our main warehouse and transport hub in Forrestfield.
This role is to work with our managers and lead our technical teams to conduct all planned scheduled maintenance. Also to assist technicians to diagnose faults, look for servicing improvements and prepare vehicles for deeper level maintenance with our external repair suppliers.
There is an opportunity to learn and grow with the business as our fleet specifications are broad. Experience gained in the workshops could permit the right candidate to advance into fleet management.
We have an expansive truck fleet including HR, HC and MC vehicle classes in combination with mainly refrigerated trailers, dollies and tautliners. Working closely with our current workshop managers and technicians you will ensure the reliability of the fleet and maintain value over the life of the assets and assist to build effective and efficient processes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the workshop mechanics in servicing and maintenance of the fleet applying your experience and knowledge to ensure work is correctly completed
- As required conduct advanced trailer scheduled servicing, maintenance and inspections
- Conduct regular maintenance checks of trailer equipment using the appropriate diagnostic tools
- Diagnose and repair faults as required to others to resolve
- Maintain WO completions on servicing, maintenance and repairs
- Source necessary mechanical parts if and when required
- Maintain a safe working environment
Skills and experience
- Minimum 4 years trade experience in workshops preferably at a leading hand or team leader or foreman level
- Strong organisational and communication skills both written and verbal.
- Experience in service and repairs of trailers
- Current Drivers Licence
- Forklift Licence – desirable
- Must be able to work unsupervised and be self-motivated.
