Why your role matters

The Senior Business Analyst plays a critical role in the successful delivery of strategic technology projects by the Student Systems and Project unit in the Registrar and Student Services portfolio (RaSS). This role will primarily provide insights to the CRM BAU team and may also be allocated to other projects delivered and supported by RaSS.

In addition, the Senior Business Analyst maintains relationships between the business and IT development teams responsible for delivering on the operational support (BAU) of information systems within their domain. This role is responsible for analysing and defining requirements along with acceptance criteria. Tasks will include identifying, sizing, and prioritising solution options for implementation, including integrations with other UNSW systems. Additionally, the Senior Business Analyst will handle validation/test-related documentation and manage end-user relationships and communication effectively.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:

Act as Scrum Master or Project Manager as required for the BAU team and/or take on a lead role on specific project engagements; including team facilitation and planning. Provide subject matter expertise, quality support and advice regarding the effective use, capabilities and constraints of Dynamics 365 and other relevant information management systems to inform prioritisation, delivery and maintenance activities. Investigate, analyse and document business requirements, functional designs and specifications and proactively identify and document areas for process improvement. Analyse, define, size, refine, priortise and progress the relevant backlogs of work, ensuring impacts, risks and issues are considered.

About You:
You will hold a relevant qualification, or equivalent level of knowledge, and relevant experience within data management and business improvement processes alongside: 

Proven experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst or Technical Business Analyst with a practical understanding of modern project management methodologies. High level of technical proficiency/expertise in a range of systems and software such as Visio, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams and project management tools e.g. JIRA. Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and/or Power BI or related capabilities. Understanding of domain area processes and information management systems. Demonstrated experience in providing creative and innovative solutions to problems, analyse and improve systems and processes, and apply quality assurance frameworks to deliver continuous improvement. Demonstrated high level of attention to detail, including analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret and evaluate both quantitative and qualitative data to successfully interpret requirements and deliver effective solutions. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and proven ability to create and deliver clear communications documentation, influence and negotiate to achieve successful outcomes. Demonstrated ability to provide end-user support, and design and deliver relevant training. You are available for occasional (planned) after-hour work required to complete performance verification testing for release, including upgrades.
