The Company:

An opportunity to work on a critical short term project within the Federal Government based in Sydney. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days in the office. Baseline clearance is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review business requirements and provide feedback and guidance on data requirements for database development that supports the desired analytical outcomes.
  • Developing and maintaining solutions and artefacts on SQL Server, working with large datasets.
  • Providing expertise and design guidance to the wider team developing reports and analytics products.
  • Working with SME’s and to ensure consistent and quality analytic product outputs.
  • Being flexible and reactive to the insights that are found within a dataset.

Required Skillset:

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience as a SQL Server developer, with demonstrated experience leveraging advanced SQL querying and a focus on performance optimisation, robustness & scalability.
  • Advanced understanding of indexing strategies, compression and query optimisation.
  • Data modelling of large datasets and writing highly efficient code to tackle data size challenges.
  • Experience with technical data concepts such as data warehousing techniques, ETL development, standard data structures and presentation tools.
  • Delivery of end-to-end data lifecycle projects (from source to target, through semantic layer and into presentation layer).
  • Proven expertise working on multiple data-focused projects with contribution towards delivery of the project outcomes.
  • Experience within Financial Services / Insurance data preferred.
  • A keen sense of curiosity and investigative nature.
  • Experience as a Data Scientist or Senior Data Analyst working on large and complex data sets is highly desirable.
  • Proactive, collaborative, systematic approach to solving data problems.
