About the Role

The Associate Director of Students is a proactive leader focusing the creation of a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment to the School for students, their families and visitors. A major responsibility of the Associate Director of Students is the pastoral oversight and care for each student within the campus. This means that the Associate Director of Students will know each student; their stories and backgrounds and engage with parents in a supportive, compassionate and empathetic manner. This role assists in maintaining learning environments that spark students’ curiosity and desire to learn.

The Associate Director of Students will work in close collaboration with the Director and other Associate Directors, adopting collective responsibility for all students and families across the Primary School. Additionally, the Associate Director of Students will understudy the other Associate Directors as needed.

There is a FTE load for teaching associated with this role.

About You

You are dedicated, passionate and possess the following:

  • A relevant tertiary degree and teaching qualification, specific to the Early Years (Bachelor of Early Childhood, Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care)
  • Proven experience to develop innovative academic pathways to achieve outstanding academic results for all students
  • Proven experience in the provision of Pastoral Care to effectively meet the personal, social, emotional and academic needs of students
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other members of staff and lead others
  • PYP experience or an understanding of Inquiry pedagogy
  • The ability to implement initiatives, project delivery and change management
  • Administrative and organisational skills
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to the full life of an Independent school and a willingness to engage in School activities out of regular hours.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience

  • Appropriate qualifications
  • A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card
  • A current National Police Check; and
  • Full working rights within Australia.
