Position Details
Education Assistant - Food Studies/Certificate II in Hospitality – Full-time, Ongoing
Clontarf Aboriginal College is a co-educational Catholic CARE (Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education) School in Perth that caters for Aboriginal students in Years 7-12. We provide a safe and nurturing environment for educationally marginalised students from metropolitan, rural and remote locations. Our on-site boarding house provides a unique setting for students to develop lifelong skills whilst accessing a quality education.
An exciting opportunity exists for a proactive and well organised Education Assistant to work within the Food Studies learning area and additional support in other classes as required. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the Certificate II Hospitality Trainer and the Food Studies teacher in the preparation and delivery of practical lessons. This will include setting up equipment and materials prior to lessons, ensuring safety standards are met, providing technical support to students during practical sessions, maintaining equipment, and helping with administrative tasks related to the department such as helping with ordering and managing supplies for classes.
As a full-time position, the successful candidate may be required to assist in other learning areas, however a part-time position would be considered for the right candidate.
Commencing in Term 4, the start date is negotiable for the right candidate.
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate must:
• Be proficient in operating and maintaining equipment used in food studio classrooms, such as kitchen appliances and safety equipment.
• Have a strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to food preparation handling with the ability to enforce safety protocols in the classroom.
• Have excellent communication skills and have the ability to interact with teachers, students, and other staff members.
• Have the ability to problem solve and trouble shoot technical issues and adapt to changing circumstances in a classroom.
• Have strong attention to detail in tasks such as measuring ingredients, following recipes or instructions and ensuring quality standards are met in food preparation and textile projects.
• Be well organised and have the ability to manage supplies, equipment, and resources efficiently, including inventory management, ordering of supplies, and maintaining records.
• Be able to use basic computer applications and software used for administrative tasks and record-keeping.
Desirable
• Cert III ACECQA approved qualification or working towards.
• Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School or the ability to achieve the Accreditation.
• Senior First Aid, Workplace Level 2, including anaphylaxis and asthma training or willingness to undertake such training.
