Description

About HeliMods

HeliMods is an internationally renowned aerospace technology company, operating from a world-class facility on Queensland's beautiful Sunshine Coast.

At our high-technology, purpose-built facility we operate a full suite of vertically integrated soft and hard infrastructure in support of our highly advanced aerospace capability.

We make tangible, lasting contributions to local and global communities by providing innovative, world-leading aerospace products that enable our customers to perform a range of critical missions, including emergency medical retrieval, search and rescue, aerial policing and disaster relief.

In keeping with our Strategic Plan, HeliMods is growing nationally and in select global markets. We are currently seeking to appoint new team members to work in our dynamic environment and support our growth plans.

The Opportunity

HeliMods is seeking a passionate and motivated graduate engineer to play a vital role in our high-performing certification team. The role is a 12-month fixed term contract during which time you will have the opportunity to apply your engineering knowledge and skills to contribute to the creation of cutting-edge solutions that enhance the performance, functionality, and safety of rotary and fixed wing aircraft.

Throughout the 12-month graduate program, graduate engineers at HeliMods work closely with experienced engineers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to support the product design lifecycle, from concepting to approval, and in-service technical support and change management. The role is heavily involved in conducting research, compliance planning, performing analysis, and participating in the review and testing of innovative modifications and upgrades for aircraft, including mission systems and interior equipment configurations.

Responsibilities will include assisting in the development of engineering specifications, reviewing designs against regulatory requirements, generating engineering reports, and making design updates under our customer support processes using computer-aided design (CAD) software. The Graduate Engineer – Certification, will contribute to the implementation of design-for-compliance processes, conduct technical analyses, and collaborate on the resolution of technical issues. Additionally, they will support the team in performing compliance verification tests, documenting results, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards and customer requirements.

This role collaborates with cross-functional teams, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to achieve compliance and maintain the highest levels of safety and quality at HeliMods. Graduate Engineers in this stream will be expected to have strong analytical and communication skills, particularly in reporting and holding technical discussions. Under the supervision of the Head of Certification, Graduate Engineers will be expected to develop a good working knowledge of CASR Part 21 (Certification and airworthiness requirements for aircraft and parts) aircraft design standards, and HeliMods’ Approved Design Organisation (ADO) processes.

Position Responsibilities

  • You will support the engineering team in high quality compliance research, staying up to date with regulatory and advisory materials.
  • You will be accountable for submitting high quality work that is accurate and meets quality standards.
  • You will assist with certification and design documentation.
  • You will be responsible for the compliance verification of modifications and equipment.
  • You will be responsible for producing routine reports and documents from standard templates.
  • You will be responsible for issue reporting and non-conformity processing.
  • You will support the production team as required.
  • You will maintain a professional and high standard of communication with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will ensure all communication is proactive in nature.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in aeronautical, aerospace, mechanical, mechatronic, computing, software or electrical engineering.
  • 0 to 2 years of post-graduate engineering experience.
  • The energy, intelligence and initiative to proactively overcome industries’ toughest challenges.
  • The creativity, curiosity and open-mindedness to explore alternative approaches, question conventional thinking, and adapt to change.
  • The people skills and collaborative focus that brings out the best in yourself and others within small, dynamic, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • A structured approach to working with an ability to deliver despite ambiguity that allows you to thrive in a highly autonomous environment.

Our top performers

  • Deliver outstanding work with minimum guidance, managing time and priorities efficiently and effectively.
  • Are multi-disciplined and adapt quickly to the needs of the situation.
  • Provide sound, well considered technical input, thrive under pressure, and expect a lot of themselves.

What we need for you to proceed

  • Provide an up-to-date CV (include your academic transcripts at the end of your CV),
  • A cover letter addressing why you feel you would be a good fit with HeliMods, and
  • Create a portfolio of your work demonstrating your passion for design, technology and engineering (slideshow format, 3 slides, focus on graphical content - bonus points for extra-curricular activity), upload it to Google Drive, Github (or similar), and be sure to include the link in your application.

Inherent Requirements

  • Does not have an existing criminal conviction.
  • Due to the nature and privilege of information, and in accordance with Australian Standards for Workforce Screening (ISO 4811-2022), it is an inherent requirement that a security clearance and police check are obtained prior to employment. HeliMods will cover the cost of these clearances should your application be successful.
