THE OPPORTUNITY: 

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Senior Estimator is responsible for managing cost estimation in the Pilbara Minerals (PLS) Capital Program to ensure consistency and accuracy of estimates across all projects.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and improve policies and systems for capital estimating of projects from concept through to detailed cost builds.
  • Responsible for preparing and collating estimates utilising standard practice five-level class system prepared at various stages of project development, including developing appropriate contingency levels.
  • Conduct estimates reviews, governance and assurances on cost estimate deliverables prepared by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide dedicated leadership in applying the first principles estimating.
  • Assist in the analysis of tender pricing against prepared estimates.
  • Facilitate and co-ordinate estimate development progress meetings and estimate review workshops Analyse current internal and external trends and the transference of lessons from current and historical projects.
  • Coordinate, liaise and support the capital projects team for business case justifications and investment approval documentation, including basis of estimate.
  • Proactively work with various internal stakeholders to gather required information.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Minimum of 10 years working in project estimating and project management
  • Extensive experience in project engineering & management with specialist estimating expertise & mastery of software tools for costing inputs.
  • Proven ability in balancing priorities and working to deadlines whilst continuing to meet the expectations of our team.
  • Ability to read and interpret sketch plans, scope of works documents and scoping sheets for accurate quotations.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to the processes.
  • Strong skills required in core software including MS Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
