The purpose of the role, within the mission of Catholic Education in the Diocese of Cairns and the National Catholic Education Commission, is to provide administration and organisational support to the 2025 Australian Catholic Education Conference organising committee so as to ensure the actions of the committee are actioned and followed through. The Project officer will also liaise with external individuals, groups and organisations as well as monitoring and reporting to the organising committee on the progress of the planning for the conference to ensure a world class Catholic Education Conference is delivered in August 2025.

The position reports to the Deputy Executive Director and works closely in coordination with the NCEC conference coordinator. The position also has a collegial relationship with the Executive Director CEDC and the Executive Director NCEC.

The position is an employee of Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns and the Executive Director of CEDC is the employer.

Work Requirements

  • The role involves extended hours, including evening meetings, overnight absences, and interstate travel, which may span up to seven days.
  • Experience in providing high level administrative support to individual or teams and knowledge of various administration functions. 
  • Intermediate computer literacy skills and knowledge Microsoft Office applications.
  • Organisational and planning skills and ability to prioritise workload to meet deadline.
  • Hold current driver's licence. 
  • Hold a Working with Children Blue Card.
  • Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education.
  • A strong demonstrated commitment to the objectives, vision and ethos of Catholic Education.
