Details

: The Business Support Officer role is responsible for coordinating and supporting the business operations of the branch by providing efficient, cohesive and high-level support across range of activities including financial management and human resources functions. The role requires a person proficient in process management, prioritisation of workflow and priorities, and possessing a good attention to detail and proactivity.

The Business Support Officer is a key contact point for business communications with the branch and should be self-motivated, possess sound judgement and show resilience to ensure responsiveness to branch business unit teams, directorate and external stakeholders to ensure timeframes are met and excellent customer service is provided.

Coordinate and assist with financial management for the branch including processing invoices, budget monitoring and coordinating resolution of staff payroll issues. Coordinate and manage the branch recruitment process. This includes developing business cases, position descriptions and advertisement wording, and managing the allocation of positions across the branch. Coordinate and support the staff appointment process by undertaking induction programs and providing onboarding training support. Assist with Performance Development Plan process and branch learning and development coordination and reporting. Assist with the day-to-day operations of the business unit and assist with other tasks relating to the work of the Development Coordination branch. This includes a range of business unit planning, reporting and governance activities, projects, and initiatives. Act as a point of contact within the branch, collaborating with internal stakeholders to coordinate timely and appropriate responses to complex, confidential and urgent matters to support effective business relationships. This position does not involve direct supervision of staff.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: 

To be eligible for permanent employment within the ACT Public Service you must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident. Individuals on visas with Australian working rights are eligible to apply for temporary non-ongoing roles. Driver’s licence Class C is essential. This position Does not require a pre-employment medical. This position does not require a Working with Vulnerable People Check.

Notes: This position is available from 1 November 2024 for six months with a possibility of extension and/or permanency. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
