PhD Scholarships: How to optimise cell transplantation to repair spinal cord injury in women
4 months ago
We are currently looking for a PhD candidate to conduct research on the differences between females and males in how they respond to a cell transplantation therapy for repairing spinal cord injury. The project is to commence in .
The primary focus of this role is to determine the biological differences between females and males during initial spinal cord injury and during repair processes. Our team is testing a cell transplantation in human clinical trial and to be successful in the future we need to ensure the therapy is optimised for females and for males. Currently, most research worldwide is focused on males, partly because eighty percent of people with spinal cord injury are male. However, to create a therapy for all, we need to identify how female biology may influence cell transplantation outcomes.
Success in this role requires i) a collaborative approach to research, (ii) the ability to work both autonomously and co-operatively within a large team, and (iii) independent drive and passion to contribute to science.
This PhD project will be primarily based at the Gold Coast campus but may also be at the Nathan campus as required.

The selection of applicants for the award of higher degree research scholarships at Griffith University involves consideration of your academic merit and research background.
