Harness Energy is a Registered Training Organisation and premium provider of labour supply to the Oil and Gas sector. 

We are currently looking for experienced, Australian-based Rig Electricians and Rig Mechanics / Heavy Diesel Mechanics / Fitters familiar with Oil & Gas drilling rigs to join our workforce in either a contract or permanent capacity.

RIG ELECTRICIAN:

To be considered for a Rig Electrician role, the successful applicant must possess the following attributes/tickets:  

  • EEHA (Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas)
  • Electrical trade certificate
  • State Electrical licenses and/or willingness to obtain
  • Valid working rights in Australia
  • Willing to work 3/3 FIFO Rosters
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry highly regarded

Rig Electrician duties include:

  • Fault diagnosis: the extent of repairs, liaise with a designated person for action, disassemble units and components for further investigation
  • Demonstrate knowledge of electrical systems such as general, PLC, and hazardous area compliance competency
  • Ensure the preventative maintenance program for all drilling plant, top drives, pumps, hydraulics, generators, motors, vehicles, and equipment is carried out in accordance with the maintenance schedule
  • Have a good sound background with current drilling rig operations including camps
  • Actively participate in using methods to reduce operational risk.

RIG MECHANIC:

To be considered for a Rig Mechanic role, it is preferred you have experience with:

  • Caterpillar & Detroit Engines
  • PLC / Hydraulics
  • 4 x 4 Vehicles
  • Centrifugal Pumps
  • Hydraulic systems open & closed loop
  • Pneumatic systems

Rig Mechanics must meet the below criteria:

  • Hold a Mechanical Trade Certificate (Diesel)
  • Full working rights in Australia
  • Open Manual Drivers Licence

Rig Mechanic responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that all operation of machinery, mechanical and drilling equipment is carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with the manufacturers' specifications
  • Diagnosing faults, servicing, and carrying out necessary repairs on air compressors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, drilling equipment, and diesel engines
  • Repairing and maintaining all vital machinery aboard the rig, including machinery involved in drilling operations
  • Ensure that all fuels, lubricants, gases, paints, and any hazardous materials are correctly stored and handled at the rig site and campsite
  • Liaise with the Rig Manager, Driller, and Electrician to schedule maintenance of rig equipment
