About Us:
Working in partnership with the NSW Government, the Parklife Metro consortium is working on an exciting new metro rail infrastructure project in Greater Western Sydney.
  
Comprising, Plenary, RATP Dev, Siemens and Webuild, the private sector partners are looking to build their metro rail expertise to deliver this city-shaping project, which will be delivered under a Public Private Partnership model and will provide a major economic stimulus for Western Sydney.
 
We are currently looking to appoint ambitious Project Engineers to support the Stabling & Maintenance Facility (SMF) Project Manager.

The Opportunity:
As a Project Engineer, your role is to plan and sequence construction activities, track costs, manage subcontractors, interface with design management and construction delivery team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery 
  • Monitors and controls subcontractors performance and ensures the quality and standard of workmanship is performed in accordance with the specifications 
  • Ensures that the appropriate personnel are in place with delegated responsibilities to guarantee quality procedures are integrated 
  • Ensures that project team completes all outstanding defects as a matter of priority 
  • Ensures implementation of project quality plan 
  • Ensures non-conformances are recorded and corrective actions initiated as soon as practically possible 
  • Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and courses of action 
  • Adhere to safety plan for project and communicates it to project team members including suppliers and subcontractors 
  • Assists with the expeditious resolution of safety issues as directed by the Senior Project Engineer & Site Supervisor 
  • Provide support and advice on planning and design suitability and options, the use of materials, resources, components or systems within the project, and construction practices and problems to ensure project success, value for money and best practice are achieved 
  • Maintains and monitors the progress of work and advises the Senior Project Engineer of significant changes and proposed remedial action 
  • Forecasts the number of labour hours for scope of works and monitor daily costs against planned 
  • Maintain 4 week look ahead of program 
  • Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems  
  • Prepare project status reports and change orders 
  • Manages cost control for certain aspects of the project in order to ensure the project meets its performance targets in relation to budget/forecast 
  • Encourages commitment from team members to the achievement and/ or bettering of project budget 
  • Assists and prepares monthly financial reports as required for the project 
  • Manage and maintain effective liaison and communication with all levels of internal and external shareholders on all matters relating to the construction activities 
  • Participate in Client/contractor meetings and resolving Client/engineering and project management issues 
  • Lead, motivates and mentors site personnel to foster positive team dynamics, staff moral and work outcomes 
  • Works closely and ensures Site Engineers are supported and performing as required 
  • Interacts with both on site personnel and other parties to create a positive work environment 
  • Ensures regular two-way communication with the Senior Project Engineer on all matters 
  • Conducts regular site meetings to foster understanding, participation and enthusiasm 
  • Establishes and maintains close relationships with Site Supervisor(s) to drive program and results 

Criteria:
The ideal candidate will have a background in Civil Infrastructure or Buildings and have delivered utilities, FRP, pits & conduits, civil infrastructure earthworks and drainage.In addition to the above:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (Civil / Electrical / Mechanical / Structural)
  • 4+ years experience within the Construction industry
  • Previous exposure to civil, building and rail projects is highly desirable
