Principal/Lead Cost Controller

Mills Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Principal/Lead Cost Controller to join our client in Perth.
About the Client: Our client is a renowned project management and engineering firm, recognised for delivering outstanding services in the resources and infrastructure sectors.
The Role: As the Principal/Lead Cost Controller, you will collaborate closely with the Project Management team to support the preparation of key project reports, including:
- Preparing, reviewing, and managing cost claims and variations for multiple Project Managers across a portfolio of small, medium, and large engineering and design projects.
- Training, mentoring, and overseeing the work and time allocations of other cost control team members.
- Reviewing invoicing and coordinating with the finance department.
- Interpreting, analysing, and reconciling large datasets to ensure hours and costs align with activity coding.
- Ensuring adherence to project control processes throughout the project’s lifecycle, including setup, reporting, change management, and progress claims.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a Cost Control role within the Mining/Mineral Processing industry.
- Expertise in earned value progress, cost control, and schedule review.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
- Familiarity with BHP and Rio Tinto processes and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Ability to learn and work with in-house project control software (ProjectController).
- Willingness to perform other ad-hoc duties as requested by the Project Management/Project Controls team.
- 12+ months contract, based in Perth CBD.
