Job Description

As our Sommelier, you are responsible for all things wine and development of the culture of wine within your venue. You will work alongside a team of wine and beverage professionals and report to the Head Sommelier.

This role will have responsibility for executing the Head Sommelier’s wine list and assisting with suggestions, ideation and on-going maintenance. You will always be promoting wine experiences and wine sale, while maintaining high standards of processes and procedures throughout the venue and back of house.

You should be constantly improving your own knowledge of wine, and mentoring and training all those around you in a both structured and on-the-job capacity. Development of a wine /beverage team, professional culture and being able to train on all things wine is a priority.

Recruitment of a like minded wine team also comes under your responsibility. Utilising your professional network, LinkedIn and/or social media to recruit and responding to recruitment drives are part of your role.

Qualifications

We're seeking passionate wine lovers, also known as sommeliers, to join our opening team. If you have a deep appreciation for wine, an extensive knowledge of varietals, and a desire to create memorable experiences for our guests, we want you on board. • Have a Passion for Wine: You have a deep love for wine and a strong understanding of different varietals, regions, and pairings.

• Experience: You have previous experience as a sommelier or in a similar role, with a proven track record of curating wine lists and enhancing guest experiences.

• Knowledge: You possess a broad and up-to-date knowledge of wines, including emerging trends and the ability to educate both staff and guests.

• Customer Focus: You thrive on providing exceptional service, offering personalised wine recommendations that elevate the dining experience.

• Team Player: You work well in a collaborative environment and are eager to contribute to the success of a new venture.

• Innovation: You bring creative ideas to the table, from wine pairings to events, and are excited to shape a dynamic wine program. 

• Adaptability: You are flexible and thrive in the fast-paced, ever-changing environment of a new opening.
