We have partnered with an exciting creative agency to assist on finding their next Motion Designer. Based in the Surry Hills, Sydney office – they are looking for a super sharp, Senior-level Motion Designer to join their team. You will join a lovely bunch of passionate creative thinkers, designers and doers delivering award-winning insight-led campaigns through beautiful storytelling and technical excellence.

This group is a flexible, agile independent agency, who have found their best hires are those that love wearing a few hats. They value your point of view, ensure you are in the mix with new client opportunities and support you to mentor junior team members with infectious enthusiasm.

You will be responsible for a variety of projects, bringing them to life from concept and design to delivery. Sometimes this will be solo and other times you will team up to push the creative. You are in charge of pushing the motion output and inspiring team members to grow. You will need to be self-motivated, highly organised, creatively driven and championing craft. You will report to a creative director and a producer for project delivery. At times, you will need to supervise other motion designers and editors to ensure creative and technical quality is maintained.

On offer is a flexible work arrangement, working 3 days in the office and 2 from home. Unfortunately, they can’t consider fully remote candidates at this time.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be an integral part of creating engaging visuals for some of Australia’s biggest brands
  • Concepting, designing, animating, and delivering content in a myriad of formats and channels
  • Deliver a high level of craft skills and detail-oriented motion design
  • Manage quality control throughout the design & motion process
  • Mentor and oversee more junior motion designers and provide input and feedback to improve their work
  • Support Producers with accurate time estimates for tasks, and ensure proposed solutions are within budget
  • Manage tasks within project deadlines, and collaborate with the design and animation team to meet deadlines
  • Stay up to date on the latest motion and design trends, and share new insights with the team
  • Consistently seek opportunities for up-skilling and professional development

Skills and abilities:

  • Ability to produce high-quality motion outputs
  • Expert in 2D and 3D animations and design
  • Expert in After Effects
  • Highly skilled with 3D animation software (Cinema 4D, Blender or other 3D software) would be viewed favourably
  • Competent in the Adobe Suite
  • Excellent understanding of design and animation principles: typography, layout and composition, keyframing timing and pacing
  • A keen eye for design, with a toolkit for multiple styles and the latest trends
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent time management
  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams
  • Ability to work in an agile environment
  • Ability to manage and handle multiple tasks
  • Able to self-teach and problem-solve on the fly
  • Great team player

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience working as a Motion Designer in a similar studio environment.
  • An excellent portfolio of past motion work
  • Expert with After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Experienced in Cinema 4D, Blender or other 3D software (Nice to have)
  • Experience with additional post-production processes such as editing, colour grading, sound-mixing etc.
  • A background in graphic design
  • Understanding of expressions
