As the EHS Manager based in Clayton Victoria, you will report to the Senior Regional EHS Manager ANZ and provide EHS leadership, advice, and assistance to all employees. You will improve Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) practices whilst developing best practice in safety and operations through inspection, audit, investigation, and corrective action.

To succeed in this role, you must possess the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a challenging operating environment and to engage internal stakeholders in implementing the EHS Management System.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and demonstrate flexibility to prioritize work daily.
  • Strong influencing skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate and partner with the site leadership team and EHSMS element owners in developing and implementing the EHS Management System.
  • Demonstrated ability to align EHS priorities with SBU strategies.
  • Experience leading a small team of EHS professionals. Drive engagement and ensure delivery.
  • Lead the delivery of the EHS agenda including EHS programs, work plans, and key initiatives.
  • Visible on the ground as well as being able to provide direction and support to the site team.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement in EHS performance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the site meets all EHS regulatory and business-specific requirements, and flags potential non-compliances and issues.
  • Help facilitate the EHS leadership team meeting at the site.
  • Improve the site’s EHS Management system conformance to PPG Corporate requirements through internal audits.
  • Ensure site EHS Training system and EHS training plans are in place to meet regulatory and PPG training requirements. 
  • Monitor and report the completion of all Injuries, Incidents, and Near Misses investigations and Root Cause Analyses conducted during monthly EHSLT meetings.
  • Provide technical support to PSM element owners, and recommendations based on the risks identified as part of the PHA sessions.
  • Develop, drive, and manage the site Risk Assessment Program, which complies with legislative requirements (Occupational Health and Safety Act)
  • Undertake regulatory and PPG reporting.
  • Ensure that the Emergency Management Team is maintained and trained to fulfill their tasks.
  • Ensure that the annual Industrial Hygiene strategy for Clayton operations is completed and reviewed annually.
  • Provide EHS support to PPG Aerospace business at Tullamarine and onsite work with the site team on EHS matters at least once every 1-2 weeks.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in HSE, Risk Management, Hazard Management, or similar roles.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, HSE, Risk Management, or Hazard Management.
  • A working knowledge of relevant EH&S Acts, Regulations and Standards
  • Experience using HAZOP, QRA, and WHATIF methodologies is a bonus.
  • Demonstrated experience in Process Safety Management or practical industry experience in a process, reliability, or safety engineering disciplines is a bonus.
