Full Time Fixed Term Dental Fellow

The Role: Full Time Fixed Term Dental Fellow

An exciting opportunity exists for a full time, fixed term minimum 1 year [February 2025 onwards] dynamic Paediatric Dentist to join the department of Dentistry.  A Dental Fellow is required to provide inpatient and outpatient dental care to children with a broad range of medical conditions and special needs. They will be expected to provide emergency management of acute dento-alveolar trauma during and after hours. The successful candidate will work with both the senior and junior dental registrars in the paediatric dental outpatient clinic with professional support from Consultant Paediatric Dentists within the Department. This position is designed for paediatric dentists with a special interest in managing patients with complex medical needs, multidisciplinary care and dental trauma.

You will be responsible for:  

  • Planning and providing comprehensive dental care to eligible patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Work with junior medical staff members in managing eligible inpatients and outpatients in clinics, wards and under general anesthesia.
  • Coordinate dental care in consultation with the medical or multidisciplinary team where necessary.
  • Participate in continuing education within the RCH and Department and participate in staff meetings.

You will have:

  • Demonstrated capacity to work harmoniously and collaboratively within a small team
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to leading by example in providing the highest quality clinical care to children and young people.
  • Basic degree in Dental Science or international equivalent recognized by AHPRA
  • Successfully completed a three year Masters or Clinical Doctorate programme in Paediatric Dentistry or international equivalent. Such a training programme is expected to conform to the European or American Academy of Paediatric Dentistry Guidelines.
