About the role

Sitting within the Registration, Monitoring & Procurement Team, the Principal Analyst is responsible for leading and undertaking WEM registration processes, monitoring obligations of year 3 obligations for the Reserve Capacity Mechanism, and Procurement processes of new capacity and other market services. What you will be doing Coordinate registration functions and ensure compliance with deadlines. Collaborate with Western Power, Market Participants, investors, OEMs, and internal teams to support timely connections and added capacity in SWIS. Lead procurement activities, including tenders, negotiations, and contract finalization, while ensuring procurement integrity. Conduct complex analyses on market outcomes using system expertise, rules, and processes. Identify, assess, and report technical, operational, and procurement issues, proposing market enhancement options aligned with AEMO’s strategy. Manage process, system, and documentation changes due to regulatory or business improvements, acting as a representative for software changes and ensuring stakeholder communication. Create clear, high-quality reports and presentations on complex concepts for informed audiences. Foster supportive team relationships, mentor colleagues, and establish networks across the business. Communicate technical or regulatory issues effectively with key stakeholders, including through forums and engagements with external agencies. What you will bring to the role Degree qualified in economics, computing, commerce, engineering, science, or a related discipline. At least 5 years’ experience in a commercial or regulatory environment. This should include commercial experience in procurement (tendering and contracting). Passion for the energy sector. Ability to establish and maintain operational relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders, including market participants and AEMO staff. Well-developed presentation, networking, communication, and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to influence outcomes. Experience operating in an environment with technical documents and/or legal instruments, such as rules and regulations. Ability to conduct probity in procurement.
